Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodevelopmental disorders network

Welcome to LDAN

About the Network

The Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodevelopmental disorders network (LDAN) is one of 17 research networks funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and supported by the National Institute for Social Care and Health Research Clinical Research Centre (NISCHR CRC). This major health and social care initiative aims to bring research funding into Wales and has created a supportive research structure to achieve this.

What does LDAN aim to do?

LDAN aims to develop research proposals in order to attract more research to Wales. The research is designed to improve the health and social care of people in Wales who have a learning disability, an autistic spectrum disorder or other neurodevelopmental disorder, over the whole of their lifespan.

LDAN supports partnerships between service users, researchers, methodologists and research support staff to develop and implement high quality research studies and clinical trials that reflect the needs and interests of a broad range of stakeholder groups.

LDAN contributes to policy development in Wales. Presence on the Health and Social Services Minister’s Learning Disability Implementation Advisory Group (LDIAG) brings the research and policy worlds together and establishes regular contact between LDAN leaders and senior health, social services and professional body colleagues.
